History

The ECE department of CIT Sandwich Polytechnic College, Coimbatore was started in the year 2008. The main goal of the department is to make our students technically competent and socially responsible with the attitude of sustainable knowledge acquisition and getting trained to apply creative technical practice Electronics and Communication Engineering for the betterment of the society.

The curriculum and syllabus updating is thoroughly followed by the faculty of the ECE Department and they consistently work to make the students acquire good practical knowledge in the areas of electronic fields. The theory subjects are taught with expertise and students are coached to attain remarkable results for getting good job placements and admissions in higher education institutions.

Mission

 To impart strong fundamental concept and required skill sets in electronics and communication engineering. To motivate the students to practice their acquired knowledge by providing opportunity for internship, industrial visits and participation in training programmers for technical updating and personality development.

Vision

To prepare the students to be technically competent and ethically responsible to face the challenges in the electronics and communication engineering industries and to utilize their knowledge for the betterment of the society.

Lab Facilities

Computer Hardware Servicing & Networking practical

The course aims at making the students familiar with various parts of computers and laptops and how to assemble them and the different types of peripherals desired. In addition, the course will provide the students with necessary knowledge and skills in computer and laptop software installation and maintenance and to make him diagnose the software faults. This subject also gives the knowledge and competency to diagnose the problems in computer hardware and peripherals and gives the knowledge for trouble shooting for systematic repair and maintenance of computers and laptops.

Simulation practical

Every electronic engineer should have sound knowledge about the component used in electronic industry. This is vital in R & D Department for chip level troubleshooting. To meet the industrial needs, diploma holders must be taught about the most fundamental subject. While designing the electronic Circuits to test particular applications we have to experiment it in a trial-and-error manner. In this situation, simulating the circuits is very useful to find out the results and select the suitable circuit elements.

Industrial electronics

The subject is to give clear explanation of power devices and circuits that are widely used in modern industries. It also gives explosive to PLC’s & inverter which can perform various control functions in industrial environments. In order to develop best skills in handling instruments or equipment and taking readings in practical classes.

Electrical Circuits & Instrumentation Lab

The subject is enabling the students with concepts of DC circuits & Network theorems, AC Circuits. The subject also deals with principles and working of Machines. The introduction of this subject imparts the knowledge for students to analyze the electrical circuits.

Analog & Digital Electronics

Every electronic engineer should have sound knowledge about the IC’s used in Electronic industries. This is vital in R & D Department for chip level trouble shooting. To meet the industrial needs, Diploma holders must be taught about the fundamental subject, Analog & Digital electronic practical. By doing practical experience in this, they will be skilled in handling all types of IC’s and able to apply the skill in electronic system design & designing of PCB’s.

Communication Engineering

Every electronic engineer should have sound knowledge about the components used in electronic industries. This is vital in R & D Department for chip level troubleshooting. To meet the tele communication industries needs diploma holders must be taught about the fundamental subjects, communication engineering practical by doing practical experience in this, they will be skilled in handling all types of communication circuits. And able to apply the skill in trouble shooting audio & video systems and all electronic system in various application.

Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) Practical

VHDL is a versatile and powerful hardware description language which is useful for modeling digital system at various levels of design abstraction. This language is mainly for describing the hardware. Execution of a VHDL program results in a simulation of the digital system allows us to validate the design prior to fabrication of digital integrated circuit. This practical will enable the students to have hands on experience in using GPGA kit. The students are exposed to do programming in VHDL.

Analog & Digital Communication Systems practical

This laboratory is based on communication systems based on analog & digital Systems. A student will able to test various communication equipment including transmitter & Receiver. This Lab system enable students to apply many experiments and activities covers various topics in analog & Digital Communication system of different types which gain the various skill in day today life.

Microcontroller practical

The introduction of the subject will enable the students to have hands on experience in using 8051 trainer kit. The students are exposed to learn simple programs using assembly language. They can also get familiar with C Compiler Platform. They also gain knowledge by using applications specific interfacing boards.
